About
My name is Daniel Timothy Kelty, LISW-S. I am an openly gay man, husband, and father of three children. I have been privileged to have called many places in this world my home, both nationally and abroad. These opportunities have allowed me to learn valuable lessons about life and my place in it.
Prior to my formal education, I also served in the United States Navy where I studied to be a Russian linguist at the prestigious Defensive Language Institute. I have a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the New College of San Francisco, a master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Cincinnati and have completed doctoral-level courses in Social Work. I co-wrote a textbook, Veterans in Social Work Practice, which was published by the NASW in 2012. I am currently working on my second publication about my experience with religious trauma entitled When the Bedbugs Bite.
My career has included working with several diverse populations including, but not limited to, the incarcerated community, LGBTQ identified people, and other underserved communities. I am passionate about grief work. I have developed specialized programs for children who have experienced a traumatic loss from homicide or suicide. I take my desire to help others seriously. I have specific passions for underserved communities such as the LBGTQ community. I firmly believe all humans should be treated with the utmost respect and equality. Our diversity is our strength and I love helping people discover theirs. I have found my own healing through my relationship with nature. I can’t wait to share it with you.
