About

Dr. Mark Gregory Karris is a licensed marriage and family therapist in full-time private practice in San Diego, California. Mark’s education includes a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Nyack College, a Masters of Counseling from Alliance Graduate School of Counseling, a Master of Divinity from Drew Theological School, and a PsyD from Alliant International University with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. Mark is a frequent workshop presenter on topics related to religious trauma. He creates YouTube content for his channel 'Healing Religious Trauma,' offering guidance, resources, and a space for individuals to explore, learn, and heal from religious trauma at their own pace. Additionally, he recently made a television appearance discussing the religious trauma associated with Hell indoctrination. Mark is also the author of the best-selling books Religious Refugees: (De)Constructing Toward Spiritual and Emotional Healing (2020) and The Diabolical Trinity: Healing Religious Trauma from a Wrathful God, Tormenting Hell, and a Sinful Self (2023).
